A Message From Beyond

After I had my youngest daughter, my doctor told me he didn't want me to have anymore babies, due to the large amount of scar tissue from my c-section.

He told me this while I was on the operating table, so while I was a little upset about the news, I was more focused on seeing and hearing my baby girl for the first time. It also seemed like okay news, because we felt like we were done having kids anyway.

But as Holly grew older, my heart began to long for another baby. In my heart, I knew that I was meant to be a mommy to 3 children. Our family just didn't feel complete.

We were torn on what to do. At a doctor's visit, I mentioned I wanted to have another baby, and my doctor suggested I have a surgery, to determine how much scar tissue had built up, and how easily they could get the baby out. This seemed like a lot of wasted time and money, because I just knew I was going to have another baby someday. I also trusted my heart that the delivery would go smoothly.

But as my heart said yes, my mind still had it's doubts.

That was all about to change though.

I wrote this in my journal.

March 5, 2008

A few nights ago, I had a dream that Sam's grandma came to me and told me I would be having another baby, and that it will be a boy. She looked young, and I could tell she felt young too. Before she left, she gave me a hug.

A month or so later, I had another dream, this time of a friend that had passed away a few years back. She was with a man she introduced as her uncle, and they both were there to tell me to stop worrying, and that I was to have another baby someday, and that it would be a boy.

All doubts that my mind once had, were now gone. These were not just ordinary dreams. I know these were visitation dreams of those that cared for me in life. They wanted to bring me peace of mind, and that's what they did.

I will forever believe that, and no one could ever change my mind. We are always connected to our loved ones.

So, in late 2008 and early 2009, we began to try to become pregnant. But unlike our first 2, it wasn't happening right away. I always like to plan things, and since we were going into March, I thought we should take a time-out from trying, because I did not want to have a baby around Christmas time!

Funny thing about fate. It doesn't matter what we plan!

So, almost a year to the date of my dream about Sam's grandma, we became pregnant! (With a due date being the week of Christmas.)

There wasn't a doubt in my mind or heart, that I was having a baby boy.

And at my 21 week ultrasound, I got my official confirmation.

"You're having a boy!"

And although it was nice to see the visual proof, I didn't really need it.

Our first and only son was on his way into our arms, as promised.

Noah Michael was born on December 21, 2009.

A happy and healthy baby boy. The c-section went smoothly, without any added problems from the scar tissue.

Our hearts were full, and our family finally felt complete.

Tomorrow our little boy turns two.

Two?! Already?!

I would give anything to be able to slow time. But since I can't, I'll continue to watch our kids grow and learn, and find their place in the world.

We are truly blessed.♥

I Blame The Wicked Witch

Two of my favorite shows start their new season's this week.

Ghost Adventures and Supernatural.

As I've mentioned before, I'm a big believer in the unknown and things we can't always see with our eyes.

But with this believing, comes a lot of freaking out about nothing. Not the "nothing" that could be there, but the nothing that's actually nothing.

And although I love my shows on the supernatural, they only add fuel to my imaginary fire.

I blame The Wicked Witch of the West. And yes I've mentioned her before on here, but would you just look at her!!

It's because of this scene right here, that I have this horrible fear that someday, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday, I'll be watching tv, and whoever is on the screen will turn and look right at me!!

Make fun of me if you wish! I'll totally understand.

And it's not even just the scary shows that bring on this weird fear! Oh no! I can be watching The Walton's, and suddenly the thought pops into my head.

What if Grandma Walton looks at me and says, "Amy! Suppers on the table!!"

And although there's usually nothing scary about supper, the thought of that happening would make me give it up for good!

It would be equally freaky if I was watching Touched by an Angel, and Monica looked at me and said, "God loves you, Amy."

Do I believe God loves me? Yes. Would a divine message brought to me by an angel, be the most wonderful thing in the world? Definitely!

Now, would I throw a rock at my tv if that actually happened? If I had one near me at the time, heck yeah!!

I would much prefer a heavenly message be sent to me via dream, potato chip, or Grilled Cheesus.(I had to throw a Glee reference in there.)

I'll be sure to let you know if any of the above things ever happen.LOL

Headaches, Carrots, And Angels

"I believe there are angels among us, sent down to us, from somewhere up above."---From the song by Alabama.

I've always been a believer in the supernatural. Meaning, those things we don't always or ever see with our eyes.

I believe in God, Heaven, and angels.

I'm also a believer in spirits/ghosts, hauntings, and the possibility of life on other planets. (Just to make it clear, I don't believe there are little green men trying to probe a random southern person. But there's no way of knowing if there are humans way out there in no-where's ville. After all, God is awesome, and could have made that happen.)

I myself have experienced quite a few moments that I believe to be supernatural, or from the other side.

I'll write about those in a future post.

Today I'm going to tell you about an experience I had last week.

It was around 8:00 in the morning, and my 5 year old, Holly, and my 19 month old, Noah, were up for the morning. My oldest, Megan, had left for the day with her grandparents.

I woke up very tired due to my husband's snoring, and had a headache. I asked Holly to play with her brother so mommy could rest her head in bed. Our bedroom is right next to the family room, so I can hear everything that goes on out there, so they would be fine. Not to mention, Holly is a wonderful big sister.

I didn't mean to fall asleep. I'll let Megan keep an eye on her siblings when I need a few more winks, but she'll be 9 next week, and is very mature for her age. If she can't handle something, she'll come get me.

So there I was, falling asleep not meaning to, when I get this horrible inner ear pain. I remember thinking to myself, Why does my ear hurt? How can I sleep with this pain?

It was in my left ear, and I remember rolling to my right side, in hopes it would stop.

And it did.

Until I began to fall asleep again.

Once again, I had  the worst inner ear pain I had ever felt! Suddenly I realized I shouldn't be sleeping anyways, and went out to the family room.

As soon as I walked out, there was Noah, sitting on the couch with a baby carrot in his mouth!

I rushed over and grabbed it out of his mouth, and informed Holly that he was too little for carrots, and could choke. She said, "I'm sorry mommy, I thought he could have them!"

I feel sick when I think about what could have happened if I didn't have that ear pain.

The miraculous thing about it, is that after I woke up, the pain never returned. I thought for sure I was going to have to call the doctor.

It was just the worst pain.

Now, you can believe what you want, but I know there was an angel, or a family member on the other side, or yes, even God himself, looking out for me and my baby boy that day.

Miracles really do happen.

You just have to be open to the signs that you're given.

5 Blessings....And Sometimes 6.

Do you remember when you were younger, and your friends would ask, "If you had to pick just ONE of your 5 senses to live without,( 6, if you see dead people) which would it be?"

I always had such a hard time choosing, because I just couldn't imagine being without any of them!

My mind would always go deeper than the whole "Fun concept" of the game. I would start to think about not being able to see the winter snow, or my Christmas tree in all it's glory.

Not being able to hear music, or the sound of my children someday. Not being able to feel the sand in my toes, or feel the warmth of a much needed hug.

But the worst ones to even imagine living without, for me at least, are my sense of taste and smell.

Especially my sense of smell! I'm just too much of a smell person! (And food person, but that's another post altogether...)

Smells trigger the part of your brain that stores memories, and me being a person who likes to reminisce, it's the closest thing to a time machine (or Delorean) I've got!

My Megan, enjoying the wonder of fall.
Like how the smell of school supplies takes me back to elementary school, or how every year I have to stick my nose in my daughter's trick-or-treat bag, because it smells the same as mine did when I was a kid.

I know smells are a large reason why fall is my favorite season! There's just something wonderfully refreshing about breathing in that crisp fall air.

The smell of burning leaves or the way the leaves smell when you jump into them.

The smell of campfires, popcorn, and roasted marshmallows. The way a pumkin smells when you first open it up.

Could you imagine not being able to smell any of these things?! Thank God for the gifts of this life he has given me! It makes me think of the play, "Our Town" when Emily is saying good-by to the Earth.

"It goes so fast. We don't have time to look at one another. I didn't realize. So all that was going on and we never noticed. Take me back-up the hill-to my grave. But first: Wait! One more look. Good-bye, good-bye world. Good-bye Grover's Corners.....Mama and Papa. Good-bye to clocks ticking...and Mama's sunflowers. And food and coffee. And new ironed dresses and hot baths...and sleeping and waking up. Oh Earth, you are too wonderful for anybody to realize you. Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it-every, every minute?"

Thank you God, for all you have given me in this life! Thank you for my children's laughter, for my husband's love, for the sights and smells of fall, and for the pumpkin pie that I'll probably be eating too much of....:-)
